Our Annual Fund-raising Events

King & Queen Pageant

The annual King and Queen Pageant is a wonderful opportunity for our children to dress in their finest and display their pose and talent to all. The pageant provides opportunity for parents, friends and family members to take an active part in raising funds to ensure the center continues to provide quality care and up to date materials to enhance the development and growth of each participant. The boy and girl receiving the most sponsorships will be crowned King and Queen for the year.

Foster Mother’s Luncheon

After years of working with families, we have often noticed foster mothers who go over and beyond the call of duty to care for the children that have been placed in their homes. So, four years ago, the decision was made to acknowledge foster mothers by having a banquet dinner filled with surprises. They were showered with gifts, flowers, cash and entertainment. They were also given proclamations by Congressman William B. Clay and Alderwomen April Ford Griffen. Children are special and they need special adults caring for them. If you know someone that is deserving of the 2010 award, please call us for more information.

Annual Fine Arts Festival

The Learning Tree held it’s Annual Fine Arts Festival on August 11, 2008. This was the Learning Tree’s way to end the summer for all of the children going back to school. The children enjoyed rides, food, and entertainment. The children in our Fine Arts program performed an African Dance instructed by Muhindi Afrikan Cultural Arts, a puppet show, instructed by Glenn “Papa” Wright and the children and seniors played a few piano pieces that they learned this summer under the instruction of Music Ministry. Children from other schools and the community all came to enjoy the festivities.
